We had posted a few videos here and then, but never really took our message of sustainability to our Youtube channel. That has changed. Today! We have started to post some of our clips. For instance, our first video portraits a small child which gets really angry over not being told that sustainable compostable coffee pods from Moving Beans exist :).
One of the co-founders of Moving Beans was featured today in a major national newspaper, with a daily readership of more than 2,000,000 people. The story covers her inspiration behind compostable coffee pods and Moving Beans, and about the founding moments and the journey ever since. Her story reads as follows:
Headlined with "Who wants a green coffee?", Easyjet run a feature on Moving Beans in their in-flight magazine. The article is so sweet, that we have taken the liberty to copy it verbatim below: "What do you get when you combine the brainpower of a mechanical engineer, a material scientist and a digital technologist? This isn’t the start of a niche occupational joke, rather the beginnings of Moving Beans, a British start-up tackling the unnecessary amounts of waste that comes with our over-reliance on modern conveniences ..."
We are open for business in Australia! Today, we officially opened our downunder office. Dan, one of Moving Bean's cofounders, has not only jumped on a plane downunder but he has fully settled in Australia to grow our Moving Beans business there. Australians are known to be coffee lovers, and known to be very susceptible to sustainability and their wonderful environment. We felt it made sense to open our doors in Australia.
We are super happy to announce the arrival of our first investment. It is Moving Beans' seed investment. It will hopefully help us to grow the business and to execute on our vision and mission. The contracts were signed a few days back, and the money hit our accounts today in the early morning. We are pumped to put all our diligent planning into action, and conquer the world with an amazing product: our compostable Nespresso-compatible coffee pots.
Finally! That took longer than anticipated. We had to contain with an intermediate coffee offer which was not fully sustainable but, after months of proper research, we are finally there to announce that today we launch our fully compostable Nespresso-compatible coffee pods.
Gemma, Dan and Mike had a random catch-up talking about work, projects and world affairs. Over a cup of coffee, that is. And that coffee was done using their Nespresso machine. And this is when the conversation quickly deepened into sustainability, the terrible impact of the plastic/aluminium coffee pods onto the environment; and why not to do something tangible about it?
